A businessman’s appeal: Stop reporting on coronavirus EVERY DAY

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic, it has become a daily routine of many people to listen to press conferences of the crisis staff at which the numbers of the infected, deceased and hospitalized are presented. However, reporting on the coronavirus has recently taken on a sensationalist moment, according to Croatian entrepreneur and member of the Voice of Entrepreneurs Association Hrvoje Bujas.

As he says, it is time to stop sensationalist reporting on the coronavirus on a daily basis and in all the media.

„A sufficient channel is the official website and, if necessary, the national broadcaster, and these“ performances „of the crisis staff should stop,“ Bujas believes.

As he explains, the number of deaths from the coronavirus has been significantly lower lately, „there are (unfortunately) more of them who die from cancer or even traffic accidents“.

„Yes, we need to protect our health, keep our distance and disinfect our hands and items, and of course high-risk groups must take care of themselves as before“. However, the threat to our business and our freedom must stop, and the rational and reasonable and responsible behavior of EVERYONE must become our new path,“ Bujas said.

With this post, Bujas referred to the statement of Croatian molecular biologist Ivan Djikic, who recently concluded that daily counting and publishing of the number of newly infected people might not be the best approach in this phase of the pandemic“. „Numbers really affect people and their psyche, and I think that that can change quickly, and I think it would be smarter to have certain more general information for the public,“ Djikic said, suggesting a weekly announcement of the number of newly infected as an alternative.
