AFTER A QUARTER OF THE CENTURY: Red Star in the Champions League!
Red Star will play for the first time in the group stage of the Champions League, having played with the score of 2:2 in Salzburg against the champion of Austria.
In the first match in Belgrade, eight days ago, Red Star played against the Austrians with the score of 0:0 without the audience because of the penalty of UEFA, but it managed to get to the next stage thanks to the score it achieved as a guest team.
After the famous year 1991 and the winning of the strongest European club competition, Red Star only played in the Champions Cup, as it was then called, next year, in 1992, but it was eliminated due to the sanctions imposed on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
In the recent Serbian football history, only Partizan managed to play twice in the Champions League, while Red Star missed this privilege several times… until now.
