Balkans without roaming in two years

Signing the Regional Roaming Agreement among countries of the Western Balkans will decrease call rates by 25 percent as of July 1st, State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic has stated.

The agreement will be signed within the Second Digital Summit in Belgrade on April 4th-5th, and Matic stated with Tanjug that this was agreed at ministerial work lunch in Skopje.

According to her, everything agreed at the First Digital Summit, held last year in Sofia, when Declaration on Digital Agenda for the Western Balkans was signed, will be implemented.

„The thing that will be defined with the new agreement is the additional price decrease, which should be implemented as of July 1st, ending at June 30th, 2021, when regional roaming should be completely abolished,“ said Matic.

As she added, price decrease in the first transitional period will be around 25 percent, for calls towards countries that have already been encompassed with the agreement, while price decrease will be drastically higher for new members, such as Albania.
