BIZLife “30 under 30”: Vojislav Vlahovic, entrepreneur, “Beobasta”

He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Colorado Boulder – Leeds School of Business, where he studied accounting and entrepreneurship. Upon completion of studies, he started working for the “Vienna Insurance Group”, initially for “Wiener Stadtische”, and after that he worked simultaneously for “Wiener RE Beograd” (a reinsurance company) and “Wiener Stadtische” life insurance in Montenegro. He works on corporate risk management tasks, where he adapted the system from his parent company in Vienna to our corporate system. He completed his master studies at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, and as a product of his master studies, he and his best friend made a blueberry plantation, spreading across three hectares. After three years of business, “Beobasta” was established as a logical step forward in business. The idea of ​​”Beobasta” is to have top quality fresh blueberries at a given address within 24 hours from picking. As Vojislav says, the idea was his, and realization was team effort, thus he owes major gratitude to his business partner Aca and marketing agency “ORA Digital” who, after being talked into, helped to set everything in motion. In a month and a half they collected 450 orders with around 1,500 kilograms of blueberries. He is married to Marija and has a son Teodor.

Is there anything you had to renounce in order to get to where you are now? I gave up (and still am giving up) time with my family. I’m sorry about that, but I think it is inevitable. We should all benefit from this in the future.

Did success reach you, or was it the other way round? I cannot yet say that I am successful, but I can say that I have discovered a direction where there is a lot of potential for success. I’m definitely chasing it.

What is the most important lesson you have learned in your work so far? Never, but never give up on an idea. “Beobasta” was established after I had discussions with more than five marketing agencies for more than a year, as not a single one even wanted to hear about my proposal for cooperation. And another very important lesson: Behind the idea is one man, behind the realization there must be a team.

What is the end goal? Serving 4,000 residents of Belgrade with food products that can last for several months, which we can offer at affordable price, along with supreme quality and delivery service to desired address or a collection from a predefined address.

Favourite school subject? Microeconomics.

First job? Laundry assistant – “Country Club Hotel Babe”. 😊

Business role model? Dad, mom and brother. They know why.

Motivational song? Aerosmith – “Dream On”.
