Brnabic says: „We will have to work day and night“

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said today that the Government of Serbia had an ambitious goal for the growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) to be six percent this year, and that it would, therefore, be necessary to work „day and night“.

„Serbia’s greatest strength is cooperation between the government and President Aleksandar Vucic in the interest of citizens,“ Brnabic told reporters after the government session, emphasizing that Serbia was the first in Europe in terms of economic results and the first or second in terms of vaccinated population.

On the occasion of the 100th day of the operation of the government, its session was also attended by Vucic, who, as Brnabic said, informed her cabinet about everything he was doing related to the dialogue with Pristina and about his visit to France.

„We also discussed foreign policy and geopolitical challenges, as well as the fight against organized crime,“ the prime minister said.

She added that the Government would try to cooperate even more closely with the President and that was why it would invite him to attend the sessions, at least once in three months, in order to discuss topics that were of the greatest interest to the citizens.

The Prime Minister pointed out that today the Government adopted a decision to allocate three billion dinars from the budget this year for the treatment of patients suffering from rare diseases, which is 24 times more than in 2012, despite the extraordinary circumstances caused by the pandemic and high expenditures.

Brnabic announced that she would submit a report on the work of the Government in the first 100 days on Saturday.

The Government of Serbia was appointed on October 28, 2020 and it has 21 departments, including three new ones – for the care of the village, for the care of the family and demography and for human and minority rights and social dialogue, as well as two ministers without portfolios.

The Serbian Parliament appointed the government four months after the parliamentary elections in which the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) won the majority of votes.
