CERN officially received Serbia
The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) has received Serbia as its 23rd Member State, following receipt of formal notification from UNESCO that Serbia has acceded to the CERN Convention. Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has said that investment in scientific research „is important for development of Serbian economy and today CERN is one of the most important scientific institutions.“
„I am immensely proud that Serbia has become a fully-fledged CERN Member State. This will bring new possibilities for cooperation of our scientists and industry with CERN and fellow CERN Member States,“ Brnabic has said.
Ursula Bassler, President of the CERN Council has said that Serbia „has a longstanding cooperation with CERN, with the continuous involvement of Serbian scientists in CERN’s major experiments“.
Fabiola Gianotti, CERN Director-General has said that „Serbian scientific community made a significant contribution to CERN projects over the years.“
„Membership will strengthen longstanding cooperation between CERN and Serbia, creating opportunities for increased collaboration in scientific research, training, education, innovation and knowledge-sharing,“ Gianotti has said.
