DISMISSALS started: Fiat’s supplier REDUCES work volume and salaries

The employees of Proma Magnetto Components (PMC), one of Fiat Chrysler’s leading suppliers, will be offered an annex to their employment contracts this week. The annex will bring the volume of production and PMC employees’ salaries in a kind of harmony with the movement of production and assembly lines in the car factory in Kragujevac, which, in the last two years, stay still more often than they are in operation. According to the Danas daily, the annex to the employment contract, which will be valid from August to the end of October, provides for a drastic reduction in employee engagement, from about 184 to 92 working hours per month, and a proportional reduction in salaries which, in the production segment, currently range between RSD 40,000 and 45,000. The representatives of the PMC’s employees are not, in fact, sure whether the salaries of the employees, as well as the number of working hours, will be halved, or if their salaries will be reduced to a minimum wage of around RSD 31,700. PMC’s trade union says that the employees in that company, after the annex to the employment contract is delivered to them, will have eight days to think and decide whether they accept the new method of working and payments in the factory. Those who accept will remain employed in the factory working half as much and for a significantly lower salary than before, while those who do not accept the annex to the employment contract, according to our interlocutors in PMC, will be dismissed.
