Economic100 days of the Government: „Finished the year as the EUROPE’S BEST“
The Prime Minister Ana Brnabic is satisfied with Government’s work in the first 100 days, stating that the work will continue in the next period, even faster and better.
„We finished last year as Europe’s best in terms of economic results. We are the only country in Europe that, since January 1st, has managed to secure an increase in minimum wage by 6.6 percent, an increase in pensions by 5.9 percent and a salary in the public sector by 3.3 percent, with 5 percent increase in health care. We also paid bonuses of RSD 10,000 in December to all healthcare employees who are bearing the greatest burden in the fight against COVID“, the Prime Minister said, presenting results of the work in the first 100 days of the Government on Saturday.
She added that the Government has adopted additional measures to support the catering sector, and in December, another one-time financial bonus was paid to pensioners in the amount of RSD 5,000.
„We are working on a new, third package of assistance to the economy and citizens in the amount of around RSD 2.5 billion, which will include direct financial aid to the economy and citizens, plus assistance for pensioners,“ the Prime Minister pointed out, adding that details will be familiar in the next few weeks.
For now, it is certain that state will help employers with half of the minimum wage in total of three times for all employees and all adult citizens will receive EUR 30 twice, and pensioners an additional EUR 50.
As for the field of energy and environmental protection, Brnabic reminded that the „Balkan Stream“ gas pipeline was launched in our country on January 1st, which will be yet another route for gas supply, contributing to country’s further economic development because it will provide larger quantities of gas for the economy, but state will also be able to charge gas transit.
„In the field of Serbia’s economic strengthening I would especially like to point out laying of the foundation stone for the Japanese plant Toyo Tires in Indjija. It is an investment worth EUR 400 million, which should bring us 500 jobs. It seems to me that nothing says more about trust in „Serbia and our future than this Japanese investment, coming to us in these difficult moments for the entire world,“ Ana Brnabic pointed out.
