Three Serbian agricultural products could be protected by a special mark of quality and origin on the EU market. The greatest chances to take the prestigious recognition for quality and protected origin in the EU are the raspberries from Arilje, cabbage from Futog and kulen from Srem.
As Blic says, Branislav Raketic, the head of the group for quality, labeling and food labeling of the Ministry of Agriculture, started a two-year project “Development of Organic Production and Quality Food Policy in Serbia”, which should enable three food products to be protected by a label of quality and origin. Organic products would thus be found in the company of 1,000 selected other products on the EU market.
Whether manufacturers are willing to try their luck on the EU market, people from Futog do not have a dilemma, since their sour cabbage has been in European stores for years, and is arriving to Australia and Canada.
