The University of Belgrade is included in 27 rankings on the Shanghai list, based on narrow scientific fields, which is considerably more than last year when it was included in 18 rankings.
The oldest university in Serbia is highly rated within the field of natural-mathematical sciences, then technical sciences, biosciences, medical sciences, social sciences.
Its best ranking is in food technology (Food Science and Food Technology), where it sits high at 43rd place, followed by Mining and Mineral Engineering where it is between 76th and 100th place in the world, while in the metallurgical engineering field it is ranked from 101st to 150th place.
Within the natural-mathematical sciences, field of mathematics ranks between 201st and 300th place in the world, physics between 150th and 200th place, chemistry between 301st and 400th place in the world.
In addition to the University of Belgrade, the prestigious Shanghai list also includes three other universities in Serbia – Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac.
The University of Kragujevac is ranked in the field of mathematics and the University of Nis in the field of mathematics and chemical engineering, while the University of Novi Sad is ranked in the field of food technology, chemical engineering and veterinary sciences.
