The initial works on refurbishment of the of the monument to Prince Mihailo in Belgrade are expected in early March, and during the restoration sculpture will not be removed from the pedestal. Restoration works will include removal of rusty layers and green patina, and filling holes with appropriate materials, the “Politika” daily newspaper reports. Belgrade Land Development Public Agency has announced that, in accordance with contractual obligations, the contractor has to secure restaurateur during the process of refurbishment, they will secure expert supervision, while the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments will conduct conservation supervision. The contractor will be the enterprise “Granit Lijesce”, and conservation work will be performed by the sculptor and conservator at the National Museum, Risto Mihic. The budget allocated for the job is RSD 3.7 million.
