The International Tourism Fair under the slogan “The summer is closer than you think” has been opened today at the Belgrade Fair and it will last until February 24th. More than 650 direct exhibitors and co-exhibitors from 38 countries are participating in the fair.

While opening the International Tourism Fair, Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Rasim Ljajic has said that tourism is not just entertainment and recreation, as it significantly contributes to country’s economic recovery.

“For the first time in 2018 we have an equal number of domestic and foreign tourists in Serbia, and for the first time we have also surpassed the magic figure of US$1.5 billion of net foreign exchange inflow from tourism,” Ljajic has said.

According to him, Serbia is in sixth in Europe when it comes to increase in number of foreign visitors, which “until a few years ago was unthinkable “.

Ljajic has stated that around 3.6 million guests are expected to visit the country this year, and foreign exchange inflow from tourism is estimated at US$1.7 billion.
