EPS crews managed to subdue the thunderstorm in Belgrade

Prompt response from teams of „Elektroprivreda Srbije“ and distribution system operator „EPS Distribucija“ eliminated malfunctions on the power grid as quickly as possible, caused by a thunderstorm in Belgrade, the Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic and acting director in the Public Enterprise EPS Milorad Grcic said during their visit to one of the substations in Novi Beograd that was flooded. Antic and Grcic expressed gratitude to the workers of EPS and „EPS Distribucija“, for urgent and brave reaction, ensuring regular power supply. – All households at the territory of Belgrade that were struck by bad weather and heavy rain on Sunday now have regular power supply. The night was very difficult, as in a very short time 100 litres of rain per square metre fell in Borca. Fifty or sixty litres of rain fell in Novi Beograd and Zemun in only half an hour. We did not have such major precipitation in such short period even in 2014, when floods occurred. I wish to express major gratitude to all employees in EPS and „EPS Distribucija“, on their incredible effort and courage they showed during night – Antic emphasized. On-call duty was raised to the highest level at „EPS Distribucija“, and that contributed to quick rehabilitation of malfunctions. Crews will remain in a maximum work load as long as there is potential danger from bad weather and major precipitation.
