EU – Serbia’s biggest trade partner in 2019
The European Union (EU) was by far the biggest and most important trade partner of Serbia in 2019, the EU Delegation to Serbia announced. According to the data of the Delegation released today, 63% of the total trade of Serbia in 2019 was done with the EU. The total trade between the EU and Serbia last year amounted to 24.9 billion euros, which is 250 percent more than in 2009, when the Interim Stabilization and Association Agreement began to be applied. In 2019, the EU exported goods and services to Serbia worth 13.6 billion euros, while Serbia’s export to the EU was worth 11.3 billion euros. Russia and China are ranked second and third, but at significantly lower trade levels (i.e. 2.7 billion and 2.4 billion respectively) – ten times lower than trade between Serbia and the EU, if we exclude trade with CEFTA members, which are actually in second place, the EU Delegation to Serbia said in a press release. It is added that in addition to trade with the EU, regional trade in the Western Balkans is the one that provides the best market opportunity for the Serbian economy.
