Every grammar school student in Serbia will learn Chinese – if he or she wants to

The National Education Council of the Republic of Serbia should recommend introduction of non-compulsory classes of Chinese language to the Minister of Education, the „Politika“ daily reports.

The Chinese language will most likely be introduced as of September the 1st, as a non-compulsory subject in all grammar schools in country, if the National Education Council (NEC) provides a positive opinion to that proposal and recommends approval of that proposal to the Minister of Education Mladen Sarcevic.

The President of NEC Radivoje Stojkovic sees no obstacle for all secondary schools to introduce Chinese language as a non-compulsory subject, from the beginning of the next school year.

It was made in cooperation between experts from the Confucius Institute and the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad, and was also verified by the Institute for the Advancement of Education, which in general approves all newly introduced plans and programs in schools.
