„First quarter EXCEEDED expectations“

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic has said that the results of the most important economic indicators in all economic areas in the first quarter of 2021 are excellent and better than expected, the Office for Cooperation with the Media announced.

„Several factors have led to good results, some of which are the change in the structure of export, because more and more high-tech products are being exported abroad,“ said Brnabic at the session of the Council for Coordination of Activities and Measures for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Growth, which she chaired.

She added that the growth of investments also contributed to the good results, especially when it comes to the construction of buildings and facilities, as well as the rise in prices on the foreign market for Serbian products in the field of agriculture, especially farming.

According to her, the challenges that may arise are related to the meat processing industry, considering the fact that there has been a disturbance on the European and world market due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In the economy, as she said, trends remain stable, and the service sector has also continued to recover.

„When it comes to tourism, better results are yet expected, which is indicated by the fact that 20,000 vouchers were distributed in a little over an hour, in addition to the previous 100,000 vouchers distributed in January, and that citizens’ interest in them is not waning,“ Brnabic said.
