    Greeks are upgrading and renovating Belgrade Airport

    The Greek construction company Terna has signed a contract with Vinci Airports for the upgrade and reconstruction of Belgrade Airport Nikola Tesla, reports the Novosti daily.

    The budget planned for the works is 262 million euros and the Vinci Consortium (with a 51% stake in this project) and Terne (with a 49% stake) will have five years to complete the project, according to the official website of the Greek Group GEK Terna, which is a 100% owner of the company Terna.

    According to the press release, the project includes a series of infrastructural overhauls with the aim of developing and improving the airport’s capacity and working conditions, and enabling airlines to offer new routes and increase passenger and cargo transport in line with Serbia’s economic growth, on the basis of current and future data.

    The works planned for passenger terminal facilities include the construction of new facilities covering a total area of 42,000 square meters, as well as the restoration of the existing facilities covering the total area of 15,000 square meters.

    The project also includes the construction of a new 3,500 meter runway, the renovation and upgrading of the existing runway, 3,400 meters long, the construction of nine new taxiways, the expansion of the existing platform and the construction of new platform infrastructure of a total area of 55,000 square meters.

    The expansion of the existing aircraft de-icing platform covering a total area of 6,000 square meters is also planned.
