If it was up to the Governor to resolve the issue of Komercijalna banka…

Governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), Jorgovanka Tabakovic, has said that Komercijalna banka should not be privatized; instead, it should continue to be state-owned, the same as Postanska stedionica. „If it was up to me, Komercijalna banka should not be sold because the state has shown that it can be a responsible bank owner. But I am the governor, I am not a shareholder of the bank and I am not the one who should decide about its sale,“ Tabakovic told reporters at the presentation of the inflation report. She added that the NBS only gave an assessment of the reputation of the bank’s buyer. „The decision to sell Komercijalna banka is to be made by the state and I do not expect anyone to change their decision or to get angry because of my point of view,“ Tabakovic said. She stressed that Serbia was also more financially responsible than some of the larger countries in the region. The best bid for the purchase of 83.23 percent of the shares of state-owned Komercijalna banka was submitted by Slovenian NLB Bank and negotiations on the offered terms should be completed soon.
