Judges’ salaries „CUT“ by RSD 6,000 due to vacation
The Association of Judges and Prosecutors of Serbia has stated that judges in most courts in Serbia got reduced salaries by about RSD 6,000 during their annual vacations. As it is stated, this practice will continue in the coming months when annual vacations are used, even during national and religious holidays. „The reason for this is the controversial interpretation of the legislation applicable to salaries, which, due to the unregulated nature of this field, allows for different interpretations. All the other court employees use their vacation right freely, and judges virtually pay for their annual vacation!“ The other employees are protected by the application of the Law on Salaries of Civil Servants and Employees and the Special Collective Agreement, and only judges are subjected to arbitrary interpretation with reference to the provisions of the Labour Act, which, according to the position of the Association of Judges and Prosecutors cannot be applied as it refers to employees, not elected officials, as it is clearly and unambiguously indicated by the Law on Judges, says the Association of Judges and Prosecutors of Serbia.
