Ministers with French businessmen on construction of Belgrade subway; Mali: We have never been closer

Minister of Finance and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia, Sinisa Mali and Zorana Mihajlovic, discussed today the Belgrade Subway project with the delegations of the French companies Egis and Alstrom, within the visit of the French President Emmanuel Macron to Serbia. As the Ministry of Finance stated, it was concluded at the meeting that it was important to accelerate the process, so that the construction of the subway would begin in 2020. „We have never been closer to the implementation of our decade-old dream. Belgrade will finally have the subway – to the pride and joy of all of us. Owing to our French friends with whom we have excellent cooperation, we will have the capital city that will be comparable with international metropolises. Our intentions are now on safe, stable foundations and they guarantee that the Belgrade subway will be built within the planned deadline,“ said Finance Minister Sinisa Mali. Zorana Mihajlovic, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, has said that the construction of the subway in Belgrade is an important project for both the City and Serbia, both due to the improvement of traffic in Belgrade and the new technologies, which will, as she said, be brought to Serbia by French and Chinese companies. „Bearing in mind the estimated value of the project, the most important thing is to determine the adequate financing structure,“ said Zorana Mihajlovic.
