Mothers to keep waiting for INJUSTICE to be rectified

Amendments to the Law on Financial Support for Families with Children, although announced for the beginning of 2019, will most likely not be discussed by the MPs by the end of the spring session, on May 31. The task force, headed by the minister without portfolio in charge of demography and population policy Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, changed the most disputed provisions, and now they are waiting for the opinion of the competent ministry. We have no information on the changes that will be implemented or when that will happen, says Jasmina Mihnjak of the portal „Bebac“, which was among the first to point out some of the irregularities in the new regulation. Some new mothers still receive RSD 1,000, and nobody talks about if and when the money that was unlawfully denied to them will be paid. The Ministry of Labour, which implements the Law on Financial Support for Families with Children, emphasizes that the task force, based on previous work and the data obtained, proposed amendments to some provisions of the Law that will not change its essence, but they would fall within the current possibilities of the budget system. As they say, when it comes to submitting the Draft Law to the Parliament there is no delay, instead it was planned after the Ministry of Finance and the Secretariat for Legislation of the Republic of Serbia state their opinion about the said proposals.
