New Serbian Fiat IN TWO YEARS, ELECTRICAL version possible as well?

A new model from Kragujevac based Fiat called „giardiniera“ will go on sale in 2022, or no later than 2023, and will have its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2021, Italian media reported. The long-announced model from Kragujevac, which will replace the „Fiat 500L“, should be available for purchase in two years, and an official presentation is scheduled a year earlier, at one of the largest car shows in the world, the Geneva Motor Show, car magazines from Italy report. As they published, Pietro Gorlier, Fiat Chrysler’s Chief Operating Officer in Europe, should reveal a work plan for European plants when it comes to this automotive giant. The model in question is „Fiat giardiniera“ which, according to the Italian media, should be between 4.2 and 4.3 metres long and have five doors. It would thus cover two car segments, the B segment, in which Fiat used to be very notable, and today it has virtually no such model following „grande punto“ that was taken out of production, and even earlier with one of the most popular models, the „Fiat punto“, which was also manufactured in Kragujevac. However, with its length, and as one of the „giardiniera“ trump cards is planned to be a spacious cabin, Fiat would actually cover the C segment as well, the so-called „golf“ segment, which includes mid-size cars. It is a model that is yet to appear, and is based on the best-selling model of the Italian-American corporation, the „Fiat 500“. That new model was announced last year when a five-year plan of corporation’s business activities was presented. According to the information available so far, the „Fiat giardiniera“ would be an extended version of the „Fiat 500“, with seats for five passengers and a somewhat larger trunk. Since demand for such a model is expected to be high, capacities of the Kragujevac based plant would consequently be significantly filled as well. Namely, the capacity of Fiat’s Sumadija based plant is projected at as many as 200,000 vehicles a year.
