New state measures and means for improving birthrate
Minister without Portfolio in charge of Demography and Population Policy Slavica Djukic Dejanovic has invited town and municipal councils in Serbia to apply by March 7th to the Public Call for Grants to Local Self-Governments for Co-financing Population Policy Measures in 2019.
She has stated with „Radio-televizija Srbije“ that local self-governments, in accordance with their situation in domain of population policy, should determine priorities, and they can also ask for certain instructions in order to improve competitiveness of their application.
According to her, this year’s applications should focus, among other things, on adjustment of work and parenting, funds for young parents, securing field equipment to health care centres, so that gynaecologists can visit mom and baby.
„Thus, the principle towards mom and baby,“ Djukic Dejanovic has said.
The condition for participation in the competition is for local self-governments to have funds in their budgets for implementation of proposed measures, have body or person in charge of demography and population policy affairs, and proposed measures must be in line with goals and purposes of this call.
