Nezavisnost Trade Union: Yura PUNISHES WORKERS if they join us

The branch trade union of industry, energy and mining „Nezavisnost“ has pointed out that the rights of the employees in the South Korean Yura Corporation are being violated and that the employer is punishing the workers who join that trade union. It was announced that the trade union would ask the Labor Inspectorate and the Equality Commissioner to urgently inspect the operation of the Yura Workers’ Council and to „annul all the decrees of discrimination against workers who voluntarily decided to join the trade union.“ According to the interpretation of the trade union „Nezavisnost“, Yura’s management, in order to prevent the workers from organizing in a trade union and from performing union activities through their union headquarters, organized the Workers’ Council. „This Council is financed by the employer and kept under his control, thus trying to neutralize any attempt of combative trade union action,“ Nezavisnost says. Yura has three plants in Serbia, in Raca, Nis and Leskovac, where it produces cables for the car industry.
