Chief city urban designer, Marko Stojcic, said in February this year that the last phase of reconstruction was in progress in Skadarlija, and that the central part of Skadarska Street was being renovated for the first time.
He said that the works were financed from the city budget and that the contractors were the city-based public companies, so there were no special procurements; instead, it was a regular program of landscaping pedestrian and traffic areas.
Stojcic said that the gardens of all the taverns in Skadarlija would be unified, and the design and project would be adjusted to the bohemian quarter, the most important cultural and historical part of Belgrade in terms of tourism.
As a reminder, the reconstruction of the bohemian quarter began in October 2017. Although the city administration has repeatedly promised that all the works will be completed by the end of 2018, the deadlines have expired and the reconstruction of the tourist symbol of the capital has not been completed even after three and a half years.
