RED ALERT: 90% of the bookings have been cancelled, hotels are being closed

The President of HORES Assembly, Tomislav Momirovic stated that the situation in hotel industry is alarming due to outbreak of the coronavirus and first hotels were closed. „As hoteliers, we must say that our business is ceasing to exist in Belgrade and in major cities at this time. You know what happens when a business drops by 10, 15, 20 percent, and today we are in a situation where businesses are decreasing at the level of 80 to 90%“, Momirovic pointed out at the extended meeting of the Board of Directors of the Business Association of Hotel-Hospitality Economy HORES, held at the Mona Plaza Hotel. „The first hotels got closed today and workers were discharged, a number of hotels today have no money to pay their employees’ salaries and obligations, and these are facts that we have to point out,“ he said. Momirovic emphasized that hoteliers fully understand the gravity of the situation and, similar to citizens of this country, their health comes first. “Therefore, we invite all our fellow hoteliers, all businesses and all citizens, of course, to follow instructions, avoid improvisation and act responsibly and seriously in this situation. We will do our best as an economy to give our contribution, to come out stronger and preserve a substance that is extremely endangered at this moment,” he said. He added that the future of business and economy of our country is something that we all have to pay attention to, and today he will speak with representatives of the Government and public health.
