Salary of EUR 555 as our success story: We surpassed BiH and Montenegro, Slovenians and Croats are unreachable

President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic announced the victory yesterday and he told people that we succeeded because our average salary in March reached exactly 555 euros.

As he said, that was a huge success compared to 330 euros, which was the average net salary in Serbia when Vucic came to the position of Prime Minister in 2014.

    Average salary in the region

In order to verify the claims about the successful economic policy of our country, we compared the fluctuation of the average salaries in the countries in the region in the same period.

In June 2014, the average net salary in Slovenia was the highest in the region and it amounted to 995 euros, followed by Croatia with 729 euros, Montenegro with 478 euros, BiH with 423 euros.

The average net salary in Serbia in June of the same year was 386 euros, and Serbia was followed by North Macedonia, where the average salary was 352 euros.

Seven years later, in March 2021, in terms of the average salary in the countries in the region, Slovenia is ranked first with 1,290 euros, followed by Croatia with 950 euros, Serbia 555 euros, Montenegro where the average salary is 526 euros, BiH 504 euros, while North Macedonia is still at the bottom of the list with 458 euros.

Thus, in the period from 2014 to 2021, Serbia surpassed Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro in terms of average earnings, but it still lags significantly behind the EU members Slovenia and Croatia.
