Serbia is THE FIRST COUNTRY to receive experimental covid drug

The experimental drug for the treatment of coronavirus, developed by the US company Pfizer, reduces the risk of hospitalization and death by 89 percent in patients whose health is already endangered, and this drug will soon arrive in Serbia, announced Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar.

Loncar said for RTS that an agreement has just been signed with the representatives of that company on the distribution of that medicine to Serbia.

This medicine blocks the enzyme that the coronavirus needs to multiply. As a result, mortality and hospitalization rates are reduced.

„We are the third country in the world to sign the contract, we have agreed with Pfizer, and we will be the first to have that drug, which has an 89 percent success rate for avoiding hospital treatment and more serious complications,“ said the Minister of Health.

He added that, however, the vaccine was still the primary weapon in the fight against the virus.

„We are not fighting to get to the stage where someone gets sick and then has to be treated, instead we are fighting to prevent that from happening at all, we want to get people vaccinated and not to get to the stage of having to use any medicine at all. And this is our responsibility as a state and the success of the state that we promised and that we are fulfilling,“ said Loncar.
