Serbian paradox or not: LESS real estate sold, HIGHER prices

In the first six months of 2020, the number of sold real estate in Serbia dropped by 14 percent due to the pandemic, but the prices were higher compared to the same period in 2019 because the total amount of money is lower by eight percent, the Republic Geodetic Authority stated today.

„In the first half of this year, the average price per square meter in an old building was 997 euros, and in a new building 1,337 euros, and in the same period of 2019, a square meter in an old building cost 950 euros, and in a new building 1,320 euros,“ the statement says.

In the first six months, real estate was purchased in cash in 67% of transactions, and the rest was paid for with loans. This year, real estate was purchased five percent more with money from loans than last year.

In the first half of this year, apartments, development land and agricultural land were most traded.

The most expensive apartments per square meter in Serbia in the first half of 2020 were sold at the exclusive location in Belgrade Waterfront, reaching the price of 9,124 euros per square meter, and the most money for an apartment in the amount of 1,380,888 was also paid for an apartment in Belgrade Waterfront.
