Jamaican Hansle Parchment won the gold medal in the 110-meters hurdle race at the Tokyo Olympics, by overtaking the current world champion and first favourite, Grant Holloway.
But, for a moment, Parchment was in danger of not arriving at all on time for the final race.
Namely, the 31-year-old athlete mistakenly got on the wrong bus on the day of the finals and arrived to the water sports complex, just before the start of the race.
Every Jamaican knows that gratitude is a must. @ParchmentHansle demonstrates that perfectly here.

As he explained on social media, he was told that his only option was to return to the Olympic Village and take another bus to get to the right destination.
All the official cars for the Olympic Games in Tokyo were reserved, and if he had gone back by bus to the Olympic Village, and then had taken another to the stadium, he would have probably been late for the final race.
„If I had done that, I would not have arrived in time to even warm up. I had to find another way. I was trying to get one of the cars available for the Games, but these people are very strict and follow the rules, so I would have to reserve a car in advance in order to get it,“ he said.
The kindness of a stranger. The gratitude of a champion. In true Olympic spirit. Stronger together. Part of how the gold medal was won. It was meant to be 🇯🇲 🏅 #Jamaica #TokyoOlympics @ParchmentHansle pic.twitter.com/lqtncHgkMe

However, against all the rules, a volunteer of Serbian origin, Tijana Stojkovic, gave him money for a taxi fare so that he could go directly to the stadium. Thanks to her assistance, Hansle Parchment arrived in time to warm up and he even won an Olympic gold medal.
Having won the medal, the athlete found the volunteer, Tijana, and thanked her for her help. He showed her his gold medal, gave her a T-shirt of the Jamaican Olympic team as a present, and returned the money she had given him for the taxi.
