Serbia is ranked 44th on the World Bank’s new Doing Business list, which is progress by four places compared to the previous year. The report states that Serbia has made the procedure of starting a business more complicated due to electronic certificates for entrepreneurs. Among the positive things it has done in the previous period the report cites obtaining building permits, electrification, protection of minority investors, paying taxes, enforcing contracts and dealing with illiquidity. Among the countries in the region, North Macedonia is ranked best, being 17th on the list. Slovenia is 37th, Montenegro 50th, Croatia 51st, Kosovo 57th (Kosovo is among 20 countries that made greatest progress last year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina is 90th.
