    The IMF among Serbs once again

    The official talks between Serbian representatives and Mission of the International Monetary Fund have commenced with a plenary meeting that has been held today in the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), this institution has announced.

    Serbian delegation is led by the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia Jorgovanka Tabakovic, who is also the Serbian Governor to the IMF.

    Representatives of the ministries of finance and economy have also participated in talks.

    The IMF Mission, led by James Roaf, is in Belgrade from January 28th until February 5th 2019.

    The implementation of macroeconomic and structural reforms program, which is supported by the Policy Coordination Instrument, will be considered during the visit of the mission. That program was approved to Serbia in July 2018, has an advisory role and does not foresee use of financial resources.

    The goal of the program is to increase the level of investments, further growth of employment in private sector, decrease underground economy and acceleration of reforms in Serbia.

    The National Bank of Serbia has said in a statement that talks on prospects and projections for the period between 2019 and 2020 will also be discussed during the visit of the IMF Mission. It is added that topics for consultations will be announced under Article IV of the IMF Statute – and which will be announced for Serbia during this year.
