„TO MAKE IT THROUGH“: Former Geox workers receive RSD 54,000 each

The Government of Serbia adopted the Decision allocating funds in the total amount of RSD 66,215,055 for one-time assistance in the amount of RSD 53,965  for a total of 1,227 former employees of the Geox footwear factory.

These funds are determined by the Law on the Budget of the Republic of Serbia, and the payments have been initiated through the centres for social work.

As the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, promised last week, former Geox employees will receive a one-time aid in the amount of RSD 53,965 each, because we thought it was important to help them as soon as possible to get through the period until they are employed again. “

The payments have been initiated through the centres for social work, and we expect them to be completed on Monday. The good news is that the Teklas company from Vladicin Han will employ a part of Geox workers, as they promised President Vucic last week, Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali said.

He added that he was sorry that some media, encouraged by political motives, used this opportunity to spread panic among the people and to publish inaccurate and selective information, which additionally frightened former Geox workers.

„This is not an opportunity to collect cheap political points and to further intimidate citizens. We have shown that we are a serious state, new investors are constantly coming to us, which means a creation of new jobs. I will remind you that Serbia is a record holder in attracting foreign investment in the Western Balkans, and in the first seven months we attracted two billion and 72 million of foreign investments, which is 30 percent more than in the year before the coronavirus pandemic“.
