Trade unions request increase of minimum wage to RSD 37,000 employers are AGAINST

The Association of Independent Trade Unions of Serbia and the United Branch Trade Union „Nezavisnost“ are in favour of increasing the minimum price of labour for 2021 from the current RSD 30,022 to RSD 37,000, and the Union of Employers is against any increase and for postponement of negotiations until the end of the year , said representatives of the two social partners in the Social and Economic Council. The President of the United Branch Trade Union „Nezavisnost“ and the Chairman of the Social and Economic Council, Zoran Stojiljkovic, told „Beta“ agency that negotiations on the minimum price of labour should start next week and the Union will ask for the „minimum wage“ to be increased to RSD 37,000, which is the price of minimum consumer basket. He estimated that the minimum wage in Europe is an „incidental“ occurrence, and that around 350,000 workers receive it in Serbia, and „this country should not be a place of cheap labour force.“ The Association of Free and Independent Trade Unions in Serbia announced that it demands a three-month moratorium on negotiations on determining the minimum price of labour due to the „unprecedented economic, social and societal crisis caused by the corona epidemic“.
