Vijesti: Kosovo sues Montenegro, it demands part of the ADRIATIC COAST

The Kosovo Ministry of Justice has sued the Municipality of Budva, Montenegro and the company Sunraf Beach Properties, requesting the return of 4,500 square meters of land on the promenade in Rafailovici, where there used to be a children’s resort, the Vijesti daily reports.

In the lawsuit, they claim that they bought the resort „Ganimete Terbeshi“ six decades ago.

The lawsuit for determining the right of ownership was filed with the Kotor Basic Court.

The Kosovo Ministry, which represents Kosovo as the plaintiff, is asking the Kotor court to issue a temporary measure banning the disposal and alienation of land near the sea until the end of the court dispute.

The children’s or youth resort was later named „Lahor“, based on the eponymous company from Pristina.

After the war in 1999, the headquarters of the company moved from Pristina to Montenegro, and the company was then privatized, i.e. sold. The dilapidated building of the former resort was demolished and the construction of a multi-storey building began.

The plaintiff points out that Kosovo is the owner of the mentioned property, and as evidence it encloses a purchase agreement concluded on March 22, 1961 in the District Court of Kotor, when the land lot of 4,555 square meters was bought by the Council for Socio-Political and Social Affairs of the former Socialist Autonomous Province (SAP) Kosovo and Metohija.

Namely, after the turbulent events in the former Yugoslavia, the Kosovo Government, as previously reported in the media, requests the return of 172 properties in the former Yugoslav republics, of which at least 42 in Montenegro.
