Vucic and the crew TUN ON TurkStream valve: Serbia to get connected by September

The presidents of Turkey and Russia, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Putin, have officially commissioned a section of the TurkStream gas pipeline. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov joined the symbolic turning on of the valve. Vucic said on this occasion that he expected Serbia to get connected to TurkStream in May or September 2020. He stressed that the project was of great importance for Serbia’s progress. Owing to the transit of gas through TurkStream, Serbia will return all the money it invested in it in 10 to 12 years. According to him, the implementation of this project will ensure the progress of industry, economy, as well as cheaper fuel and energy security. He stated that TurkStream in Serbia would have a capacity of 13 billion cubic meters, adding that it would branch out from Serbia towards Hungary, as well as towards Bosnia and Herzegovina and other Balkan countries. A section of the TurkStream gas pipeline has been opened in Istanbul, allowing gas to flow from Anapa, Russia, to Kiyikoy, Turkey, through the pipes below the Black Sea. The first gas quantities from TurkStream are expected to start flowing through the main gas pipeline in Serbia in the second half of the year, probably in October, when the next gas season begins. In Serbia, all the pipes for the 403-kilometer gas pipeline have been laid. Measuring stations and a large compressor station in the vicinity of Zabar are still to be built.
