Vucic GIVES TASK: Buy GOLD, Serbia must besecure

Serbiawill increase its gold reserves from the existing 20 tons to 30 tons by the endof 2019 and then, in the next year and a half, to as much as 50tons, the Vecernje Novosti daily reports.
As the daily finds out, this dynamics waspractically determined after a meeting in Belgrade between PresidentAleksandar Vucic and a delegation of the International Monetary Fund(IMF).
The daily reports that during the talks, Vucic raised the topic of buying goldand the interlocutors from the IMF told him that they did not mind it if it fitinto our strategy of increasing foreign currency reserves.
Immediately after the meeting, the VecernjeNovosti daily reports, citing its sources, Vucic called Governor of theNational Bank of Serbia Jorgovanka Tabakovic and Finance Minister SinisaMalic and „literally gave them a task: Buy gold, Serbia must besecure“.
Last year, a record-breaking volume of goldpurchases was recorded on the world market in the past 50 years, and thistrend continued in the first three months of this year.
