Will Serbia OFFICIALLY remain without Volkswagen today?

Volkswagen has announced that it is engaging in „concrete negotiations“ with the „remaining potential“ locations for construction of the plant in Southeast Europe. Reuters and Deutsche Welle (DW) report that, according to insiders, Bulgaria and Turkey are still in the race. Volkswagen’s Shareholders’ Assembly, which is being held today (May 14th) has been eagerly expected all across Southeast Europe as well. Several countries, including Serbia, hoped to attract a major investment of the automotive giant, and „winner“ should have been announced these days. It appears that this will not be the case – Volkswagen announced that supervisory and managerial board decided to engage in „concrete negotiations“ on the remaining potential locations on Monday. There is no more official information on the matter, and company gave a brief statement for DW on Monday, saying that the final decision has not been made yet and this is still their official position on the matter. However, the Reuters agency, with reference to insiders, reports that only locations in Bulgaria and Turkey are still in the race. However, German agency DPA published that information a month ago, but it remains unclear whether Reuters now has a new, fresh confirmation, DW reports.
