    Believe it or not: Prices in Serbia dropped in August

    The prices of personal consumption products and services that are used for measuring inflation in Serbia were 0.1 percent lower on average in August than in July, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced. Compared to the same month last year, inflation was 1.9 percent in August, and 1.5 percent compared to December 2019. The drop in prices in August was recorded in the groups of food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.4 percent), clothing and footwear (one percent) and communications (0.3 percent). Price growth was recorded in the groups of recreation and culture (3.3 percent), transport (1.1 percent), furniture, household items and current household maintenance (0.3 percent), in the groups of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, health and education (by 0.2 percent each). Restaurant and hotel services also rose in price (0.1 percent).
