Both construction and prices are rising: Works in Belgrade „surpassed“ the pandemic
The Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic said that, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, more square metres are being built in the Serbian capital this year opposed to the last one.
While having guest appearance at „Pink“ TV station, he said that in the first eight months of this year, the city issued building permits for more than 712,000 square metres, city municipalities for around 200,000 square metres, i.e. the same number as the Republic of Serbia, which means that permits for more than 1.1 million square metres have been issued.
„For the past three years, the City of Belgrade alone has issued building permits for more than a million square metres each year, which with city municipalities and the Republic amounted to between 1.3 and 1.4 million square metres. When compared to 2010, the City of Belgrade issued building permits for 14 thousand square metres, in 2011 by 197 thousand square metres, and in 2012 for 242 thousand square metres,“ said Vesic.
He also added that Belgrade is one of few European cities in which real estate prices have not fallen, but have increased instead, „Beoinfo“ reports.
