Budapest waterworks helps Belgrade’s drinking water network

Low river levels are one of the problems in the Serbian capital. Most wells are obsolete with low water yields. Resonating with excellent intergovernmental relations, Hungarian experts are helping to supply drinking water to the capital of the neighboring country. Budapest Waterworks’ subsidiary, Duna-Kut Kft. announced that they have already completely reconstructed four wells, achieving a significant increase in yield.

At the request of the Belgrade water supply and sewerage system top management, one Reni well will be handed over for temporary work in near future, in order to alleviate the problems of Belgrade’s water supply.

In order to ensure a continuous flow of sufficient drinking water from the tap in Belgrade as well as in Budapest, it is inevitable to reconstruct other wells as well.

Because of their excellent work so far, Hungarian company is convinced that they will continue to gain the trust to renovate other wells.

The agreement signed by the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Serbian Minister of Economy provides a good basis for the above mentioned, while one of the agreement’s most important points being the implementation of the program for the reconstruction of Belgrade’s wells ,in cooperation with Budapest.

This agreement was reaffirmed after a meeting of the joint economic committee of the Serbian-Hungarian government’s mixed committee, held in Belgrade in the beginning of June.
