Decision is made: EVERYTHING TO BE CLOSED by Monday except stores

Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, announced after the session of the Crisis Staff that a decision had been made to close everything in the next five days, except grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations.

It is possible that the measures would be extended.

The Prime Minister added that kindergartens would continue to work from tomorrow, but also that on Monday, it is the „most likely“ that lower grades of primary schools will also switch to online classes, which is already the case with older students.

She said the measures would take effect from Wednesday and last for the next five days, until Monday, with the possibility of being extended.

According to her, in that period, grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations will work, everything that is necessary for a more or less normal life.

Brnabic stated that the lockdown decision was adopted in order to further slow down life in Serbia, so that we would see that the numbers of newly infected were stagnating.

„This is primarily support for our healthcare workers and our health system. This is a compromise solution because the measures are strict, but they are in force for 5 days at the moment, even though the medical part of the Crisis Staff asked for them to last for at least 14 days,“ the Prime Minister said.

Whether the validity of the measures will be extended depends, like every time, on all of us, said Brnabic and appealed to the public to show maximum discipline, to understand the situation in the health sector, whose workers have been working in such difficult circumstances for a year.
