Djilas criticizing acquisition of buses from Turkey and China, in his time 200 buses arrived from Poland

The President of the Liberty and Justice Party, Dragan Đilas has evaluated that it is „obvious“ that the company Mercedes which, according to Aleksandar Vucic entered „Ikarbus“ in 2014, left Serbia in 2019, since City of Belgrade ordered new buses for the needs of GSP from producers from China and Turkey, not from „Ikarbus“. Stating that GSP „does not function“ today and that existing system of investments in private carriers is not cost profitable, Djilas pointed out that, at the time he was the mayor of Belgrade, 157 city buses were purchased from „Ikarbus“, while „only“ 90 buses were procured from that enterprise for the needs of GSP since Serbian Progressive Party has been in power. „The budget for public transport in Belgrade in 2013 was RSD 13.8 billion, out of which RSD 7.6 billion were set aside for GSP and RSD 6.2 billion for private carriers. The budget for public transport in 2018 was RSD 24.6 billion, out of which RSD 9.6 billion were set aside for GSP and as much as RSD 15 billion to private carriers,“ Djilas has told reporters prior to commencement of the meeting of Belgrade Assembly. While he was the mayor of Belgrade, „Gradsko saobracajno preduzece Beograd“ procured 200 articulated low-floor buses from the Polish company „Solaris“, for the needs of public transport. Procurement was funded by a loan of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of EUR 65 million, and this move was criticized by those who thought that GSP should purchase domestic buses. He has evaluated that tender for procurement of 240 new buses for the needs of GSP is „more than odd“, since decisive point in the part concerning the purchase of 70 buses is that manufacturer must prove it sold 10 buses in the last five years, while for procurement of 170 buses it must prove it produced and delivered at least 4,000 city buses in the last three years.
