    Exports from Serbia higher by three percent and imports by 11.5 percent in January

    Exports from Serbia in this year’s January amounted to around EUR1.19 billion, which is three percent more than in the same month last year, whereas imports increased by 11.5 percent, to EUR1.65 billion, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has announced today.

    The total foreign trade amounted to EUR2.84 billion, which is an increase by 7.8 percent, whereas trade deficit of EUR466.7 million increased by 40.9 percent.

    The export-import coverage ratio in January amounted to 71.8 percent and is lower than in the same period last year, when it was 77.7 percent.

    The biggest foreign trade was realized with countries with which Serbia has free trade agreements. The European Union member-states make up 61.8 percent of the total trade.

    The main foreign trade partners of Serbia, when it comes to exports, were Germany, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia and Romania, and when it comes to imports those were Russia, Germany, China, Italy and Hungary.

    A surplus of EUR103.2 million was realized in trade with countries of the region with which Serbia has a free trade agreement (CEFTA).
