Government BANS increase in the price of 5 basic food items

At the session, the Government of Serbia made a decision to limit the prices of basic food items.

As stated in a press release, this decision applies to table sugar, type T-400 flour, edible sunflower oil, pork – leg and UHT milk with 2.8 percent milk fat, the prices of which cannot exceed the price level that was valid on November 15, 2021.

„The price limit is set to eliminate harmful consequences and prevent market disturbances and it will not apply to reduced prices (sales, seasonal discounts or promotional sales) if they were in force on November 15, but to regular, i.e. prices before discount“, it is stated in the press release.

The decision, which will be applied for a period of 60 days, stipulates that manufacturers may not deliver these products in quantities lower than the average in the last 12 months.

For violating the stated provisions, fines in the amount of 100,000 to two million dinars are also stipulated, as well as a ban on performing activities for a period of six months to one year.
