Here is how many YEARS OF WORK it takes in Serbia to buy an apartment
The ratio of real estate prices and the average salary in Serbia in the first half of the year is the best in the last two decades. However, that does not mean that it is good. On the contrary, for the purchase of 60 square metres in a new building, base on the official average price in Serbia, it takes as much as 14.1 years of work that is paid with an average salary, provided that the entire salary goes for the apartment, the „Vecernje novosti“ daily newspaper report.
Although not at least insignificant part of the working life one should set aside for a new real estate in Serbia, only a decade ago it was necessary to work 20.4 years for the same apartment, the Foundation for the Development of Economic Science of Belgrade based Faculty of Economics warns. By the way, the average price of square metre in Serbia is RSD 166,764, while June salary was RSD 59,740.
„Of course, these data vary by city, thus it takes 15.5 years in Belgrade, 13.8 years in Vrnjacka Banja, 11.5 years in Novi Pazar, a little more than ten years in Uzice, Kragujevac, Cacak and Novi Sad,“ Aleksandar Radivojevic, FREN associate explains.
