Law passed: RELIEFS for private companies that use CYRILLIC alphabet
On the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag, the Serbian Parliament adopted the Law on the use of the Serbian language in public life and protection and preservation of the Cyrillic alphabet.
The adoption of the law was initiated by President Aleksandar Vucic, and by member of BH Presidency, Milorad Dodik, so the same law was adopted in the Parliament of Republika Srpska as well.
The law expands the number of entities that are obliged to use the Cyrillic alphabet, and these are the companies that have a majority share of public capital, and the public broadcasters RTS and RTV.
Furthermore, private companies that decide to use the Cyrillic alphabet in their operations will have tax reliefs.
The law also stipulates that cultural and other events that are financed or co-financed from public funds have to have their logo written in the Cyrillic alphabet.
The Parliament also stated that the adoption of this law did not endanger anyone who spoke a different language or used the Latin alphabet.
