Mali is 99% sure: Salaries in the public sector WILL BE INCREASED

The Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali stated with RTS that he is 99 percent sure that salaries in the public sector will be increased from January 1st of the following year. He adds that the exact level of an increase will be known in the next two weeks, following talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Mali stated with RTS that the minimum price of labour will increase from January 1st, as well as pensions in the amount of 5.9 percent.

„The topic with the IMF is to see how our budget stands, what the increase in salaries in the public sector will be like. We have waited for September and October, I am 99 percent sure that we will be able to increase salaries in the public sector,“ the finance minister said.

More precise information will be known in the next few days, Mali said.

„The IMF is here for the next two weeks, thus by the end of their mission we will know exactly what the budget for 2021 looks like and how much the increase in salaries in the public sector will be,“ the minister pointed out.

He adds that he is sure that no country in Europe is raising salaries and pensions at this moment, which, he says, speaks enough about „Serbia’s economic strength“.
