Prime Minister on debt WRITE-OFF: Let caterers REACH AN AGREEMENT with the local authorities

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated on Monday that caterers should talk to town and municipal officials about the possibility of debt write-off, as a form of assistance during the coronavirus pandemic.

„I appeal to all officials in local self-governments to support caterers as much as possible, because once the pandemic ends it is better to have that sector ‘on its feet’, and when they make profit, you make profit as well,“ Brnabic said.

The Prime Minister visited the farm of the Jagodic family in the village of Stojnik, and when asked about the possibilities of writing off debts to caterers, she answered with the advice that caterers should talk about it with officials in local self-governments.

„Some towns have agreed to write off a higher percentage of debt or lease, others lesser, and that is why the best thing to do is talk,“ Brnabic said, and advised local self-governments to „support caterers as much as possible.“

„That would not be just an act of solidarity, but also the smartest economic measure,“ Brnabic said, reminding that the catering sector received special support within the package of measures for mitigating the consequences of the COVID crisis.

„The door is always open for them in the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, as well as in the Ministry of Finance,“ Brnabic added.
