We dropped five places on the World Bank’s Doing Business list

On the latest Doing Business list of the World Bank, which ranks 190 economies, Serbia is ranked 48th in terms of the ease of doing business, which is five places lower than a year ago, the World Bank announced today.

Serbia is best positioned, 11th, in terms of acquiring construction permits, while a year ago it was 10th, and it got the lowest rating in the area of connection to the electrical grid, where it is ranked 104th, while it was 96th.

The World Bank says that the main reason for the decline of Serbia in ranking is faster progress of other countries.

Regional Manager of IFC for Central and Southeast Europe Thomas Lubeck has pointed out that Serbia has implemented an important reform that facilitates obtaining building permits.

„The total number of points Serbia got in terms of the ease of doing business increased from 73.32 in the 2018 Doing Business Report from last year to 73.49 in this year’s 2019 Doing Business Report,“ Lubeck said.
